Biography

After graduating with a BSN from UBC-Okanagan in 2006, Andrea worked as an acute care surgical nurse before moving into oncology at BC Cancer. She completed specialty oncology training through the Cross Cancer Institute in 2010 and later achieved national certification in oncology nursing in 2011. Andrea completed her Master of Science in Nursing program at UBC-O in 2019, receiving the Bryce Carnine Memorial Award for her graduate work in outpatient nursing role optimization in oncology. Currently Andrea is the Director for Nursing and Allied Health Research and Knowledge Translation at BC Cancer. In that role she is responsible for building capacity across the nursing and allied health disciplines to undertake research and knowledge translation at the point-of care. Andrea also holds provincial and national leadership positions with the Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology (CANO) as a board member and president of the BC CANO Chapter, and is an adjunct professor in the school of nursing at UBC-Okanagan.
